I appreciated the exercises provided near the end of the book. My favorite part was the analysis on how photographers can improve their style by studying and emulating classic paintings.I understand why Juan omitted specific feature sets on certain smartphone. It would have been nice had he gone a little more in detail on these OEM tune their cameras. I feel more could have been said how OEMs are using dual sensors. But I guess there is always edition 2 ;).I also would have liked some more photography example for things like dutching the camera.
This is a great book for someone who wants to get serious with their smartphone camera, buy it and love it.

I have been devouring any information I can about mobile photography and composition in general. This book is VERY basic. If you know nothing about photography and have taken like 2 pictures ever on your phone, this is the book to get you started. No information about what settings to adjust for what.. basically "phones have cameras and you can buy stuff for them. To take better pictures, think about the photo you're talking first. The end." Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in this book. It gets an extra star though because the author is funny; he incorporates a lot of humor in his writing.
Very informative and easy to digest for the beginner getting into the art of photography.
Excellent read it helped me in taking better pictures with my xperia z2, he really explain very well all terminology in photo taking
Seriously the best E book I have read on smartphone photography. It really improved my picture quality after applying what I learned! Would totally recommend!
And I'm halfway through the book and already starting to take better pictures in manual mode.
I love Juan Bagwell's tech reviews and I'm terrible at taking pictures, so I'm going to see if he can help me do better. Just bought the book, so haven't had a chance to get into it yet, but knowing Juan, it'll be great.
The tips are clearly set out and easy to understand. Given that everyone is now a "photographer" with their smart phones, this has been a great resource for trying to figure out how to make little subtle changes to get the right photo. Best part? You can access it digitally through your phone, so you've got the reference with you where you need it, when you need it!
